Saint Aidan's Services is a voluntary body founded in 1968 by concerned parents and friends. It provides comprehensive services for peoplewith a wide range of disabilities, children with special needs and for the older person.

At present we provide services for over three hundred people in the North Wexford region.

Beta Unit

Beta Unit is a high dependency unit catering for adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, including wheelchair users.

Each service user has individual needs, which we meet through our daily programme planner.

PROGRAMME PLANNER.

SOCIAL OUTINGS:
Visiting interesting places, meals out, bus trips etc.,

COMMUNITY AWARENESS:
Road safety, shopping, use of local amenities and visits to the mobile library.

EXERCISE PROGRAMME.
Walks, Physical Education, Sonas, Dance, Special Olympics, Swimming.

RELAXATION.
Aromatherapy, Tactile Stimulation, Sensory Stimulation, Music, Story Telling, Video and Audio Tapes.

PERSONAL CARE:
Bathing and Grooming Skills, Beauty Therapy, oral Hygiene.

HOME MANAGEMENT:
Laundry, Cookery, Table Setting and Cleaning etc.



SISTER ANTONIA UNIT

Delivers services to the Older person with a learning disability, with the emphasis on the individual. In order to ensure that the individual receives care and stimulation appropriate to their needs, abilities and wishes, the process of Person Centred Planning is used.

The Sr. Antonia Unit is named in honour of a founder of the Day Care Centre and the aim of this unit is to promote and maximise independence, confidence and self-esteem.

Saint Aidan’s Day Care for the Older Person was launched in 1989 to provide services to elderly people living within a twelve mile radius of Gorey and delivers services to 100 people each week.

Services again are delivered to meet the individuals needs, their wishes and ability.
Services include; Social Outings, Nursing Care, Physiotherapy, Exercise Programmes including Dancing, Reminiscence Therapy and a range of educational programmes including computers and games.

Ard Lios House

The Ard Lios Respite Service provides short term (one to seven day), community based respite care for children special needs and adults with an intellectual disability, situated within walking distance of Gorey town.

Our team of qualified staff places particular emphasis of creation of a home-like environment, where choice, dignity and uniqueness of each person are valued. Our purpose built house can accommodate persons with additional physical and or sensory impairment who may require a high level of care.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES:

A present there are four residential houses provided services for 20 adults with varying degrees of abilities.

There 2 houses on our Campus at Millands, Woodlands and Crossroads.
One house at Abbey View, Millands and 1 our fourth house is in Esmonde Gardens, Gorey.
Social inclusion and community integration is at the very core of this service.

These houses offer a home from home environment for all the residents. The residents are consulted and involved in all aspects of the day to day running of their homes and in their social activities.



PRE SCHOOL / CHILDREN’S DAY CARE SERVICE

Saint Aidan’s Pre School Unit opens four mornings per week and provides a stimulating, safe warm, and loving environment meeting each child’s individual needs.

We endeavour to encourage and stimulate each child to reach his / her full potential by devising and implementing programmes for physical, cognitive, speech and language, social and emotional development. Services provided include speech therapy, physiotherapy and services of occupational therapy. The students normally partake in two outings per term and summer camp in July.

St. Aidan’s Garden Centre commenced trading in 2001 with sponsorship for FAS.
The Garden Centre is involved in the provision of training for our service users.

Over the years the Garden Centre has expanded, it now stocks a wide variety of threes, shrubs, plants and pots. The gift shop offers a selection of ornaments and has a full range of gardening implements for the enthusiastic gardener.

Our Christmas shop is now open with a huge range of Fresh Christmas Trees and decorations for the festive season. Christmas Trees bought in the Garden Centre will be delivered free of charge locally.
Profits from the Garden Centre go towards the running of St Aidan’s Services.



CAMOLIN SERVICE:

This service is an outreach service, based in Camolin, delivering services to adults with high dependency.

This services is individual based and in order to achieve this, Person Centred Planning is implemented. The rights, needs, ability and wishes of the service users is of utmost importance when planning programmes and social activities for the individual.
